Carl Garnett is celebrating his second Britcar Endurance Championship class victory of the season after producing a fantastic performance with Project 29:7 Racing at Spa-Francorchamps this past weekend (30/31 May).
Looking to bounce back from a frustrating retirement in the previous round at Oulton Park, Garnett and the Project 29:7 Racing team headed to Belgium for an exciting pair of 61-minute races around the world-famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
The trip marked Garnett’s first time racing on the legendary 4.35-mile track, carved into the Ardennes forest and renowned for its fast, flowing nature and elevation changes. He would share the team’s Ginetta G56 GTA for the weekend with successful one-make Porsche racer Jonathan Moore.
The Britcar Endurance Championship would share a grid at Spa with the Supercar Challenge and P9 Challenge, creating a field of more than 40 cars. Garnett got his first laps on the board during pre-event testing on Thursday, enjoying some positive running in glorious sunshine.
There was a drastic weather change come Saturday morning though, with heavy rainfall greeting them. After they adapted well to the conditions in free practice, Moore took the reins in qualifying and produced an impressive lap to secure the Britcar ‘Trophy’ class pole in the #297 Ginetta.
Fortunately, conditions had vastly improved for the opening race that afternoon. Moore settled into second place through the opening stint and built a good gap to the car behind, before handing over control to Garnett during the mid-race pitstop window.
A safety car period just after Garnett jumped into the car wiped over their advantage though. The action restarted with a 12-minute sprint to the chequered flag, with the York-based racer enjoying some great wheel-to-wheel action on his way to a podium finish in third.

Sunday’s action followed the same format as the day before. After getting in some more laps in free practice, Garnett was in charge for qualifying this time and he produced an exceptional lap in the Telescope and Clearsilver Brand Marketing-backed Ginetta to secure class pole position again.
Back behind the wheel for the race start, Garnett fought well through the opening stint to keep them right in the podium battle. Moore then went on a charge in the closing stages, grabbing the team a memorable class victory around one of the most famous circuits in global motorsport.
That marked Garnett and Project 29:7 Racing’s second win and third podium finish of the season so far, in addition to their success in the Donington Park season opener. The next round of the 2026 campaign takes place at Snetterton in Norfolk on Saturday 11th July.
Carl Garnett: “It’s always been an ambition of mine to go racing at Spa-Francorchamps and it certainly lived up to all my expectations. It’s an honour to race around such a prestigious circuit and to mark the occasion with a win and two podiums is incredible.
“Project 29:7 Racing did a faultless job all weekend. The rain was horrendous on Saturday morning, but they did a great job setting up the car for the conditions and Jonathan’s qualifying lap was immense. From there, the opening race went well and it was great to start with a podium.
“I’m super pleased to have been able to get us another class pole position in qualifying on Sunday. The race was a bit messy at points, but I made sure I gave the car over to Jonathan in podium contention and he did the rest. It was really enjoying racing with him for the first time this weekend.
“Aside from the mechanical problem outside of the team’s control at Oulton Park, it’s been an amazing season so far. Two wins and three podium finishes from four races gives us all a lot of confidence heading into Snetterton next and the remainder of the 2026 season.”
