GT racing driver Carl Garnett has celebrated back-to-back class wins in the Britcar Endurance Championship for the first time, after a faultless performance with Project 29:7 Racing in the penultimate round of the season at Silverstone (03 October).
Off the back of a hard-fought victory at Snetterton in August, Garnett and team-mate Jonathan Moore converted pole position into a comprehensive victory behind the wheel of their Ginetta G56 GTA at the Home of British Motor Racing.
As Garnett took to the 1.85-mile Silverstone International layout for the first time behind the wheel of Ginetta machinery, some encouraging pace during testing on Friday set him up for the short ten-minute qualifying session the following morning.
The York-based racer, who secured his 50th career podium finish in a Ginetta at Snetterton, produced an exemplary display to charge to pole position in the ‘Trophy’ class and seventh place overall ahead of a number of higher class, more powerful cars.
Garnett was back behind the wheel of the Telescope and Clearsilver Brand Marketing-backed Ginetta for the start of the 90-minute race. Staying out of trouble across a frenetic opening few laps, he settled into the top three in class before the team executed their first pitstop under safety car conditions.
Continuing in the cockpit, Garnett closed right onto the tail of the class leader before bringing his impressive stint to a close. Moore jumped in for the final 50 minutes and produced a composed, consistent drive to bring home the victory.
That was the fourth win of the season for Garnett and Project 29:7 Racing, adding to their successes at Donington Park, Spa-Francorchamps and Snetterton. It was also Garnett’s seventh class podium finish in Britcar, in his 11th start in the category.
The latest win means that Garnett and Project 29:7 Racing are in Trophy class title contention heading into the final round of the season next month; the annual Britcar Into The Night event at Brands Hatch (07 November).

Carl Garnett: “What a brilliant day! Myself, Jonathan and the Project 29:7 Racing team worked really hard on fine-tuning the car setup in testing on Friday and those efforts really paid off on race day.
“The car was spot on in qualifying and it was great to get class pole position, while congratulations to the team also for securing the overall pole position with our team-mates.
“It was a pretty messy start to the race, but I kept focused on staying out of trouble and managed to keep us going in the top three in class. It was a faultless run from there really, with the team calling the pitstops at the right time.
“Jonathan was supreme at the end to bring home the win. To have four victories and five podiums from eight races this season is a testament to the team for their brilliant work. Hopefully we can sign off the season with more success at Brands Hatch.”
